Choosing a restaurant POS in the UAE

A restaurant POS takes the order, sends it to the kitchen and takes the payment. In the UAE the systems differ most on three things: the size of operation they are built for, how they connect to delivery apps like Talabat, Deliveroo and Careem, and where their support team sits. This guide compares 14 POS systems used by UAE restaurants.

What to check before you sign

  1. Delivery app integrations. Ask for the live list of integrations in the UAE. CompuCash lists Talabat, Deliveroo and Careem. Grubtech lists Talabat, Deliveroo, Careem and Noon, and connects to Foodics.
  2. Offline mode. Ask what happens when the internet drops in the middle of service. CompuCash says it keeps working offline. Get the same answer in writing from any other vendor.
  3. Support hours and language. CompuCash offers 24/7 support from a UAE team. Syrve supports clients in five languages from Dubai. Ask who answers at 11pm on a Friday.
  4. Hardware. You can buy, rent or bring your own hardware with CompuCash. Fortis uses your existing card terminal. Oracle offers POS hardware upgrades from $1. Ask what happens to the hardware if you leave.
  5. Payments. Some POS systems bundle payments, such as Foodics Pay with daily settlement and Geidea's terminals. Others connect to a separate provider. Compare the processing rate and the settlement time, along with the software fee.
  6. Inventory and recipe costing. Polaris ERP, TMBill and CompuCash include stock and recipe tools. If yours doesn't, Supy adds inventory and recipe costing and connects to Foodics, Lightspeed and Grubtech.
  7. Reporting across outlets. If you plan a second branch, check multi-outlet reporting now. Sapaad tracks KPIs across outlets and Restroworks lists 200+ reports.

Does a UAE restaurant POS need e-invoicing?

Not for sales to diners, yet. The UAE's e-invoicing system, set out in Ministerial Decision No. 244 of 2025, covers business-to-business and business-to-government invoices. Business-to-consumer sales are excluded until further notice.

It still matters if you invoice companies for catering, corporate accounts or events. Businesses with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more go live on 1 January 2027. Everyone else goes live on 1 July 2027 and must appoint an Accredited Service Provider by 31 March 2027. Your consumer sales count toward the AED 50 million threshold. Ask your POS or accounting vendor how it will send invoices to an Accredited Service Provider.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most popular restaurant POS in the UAE?

No public data shows UAE market share for restaurant POS systems. Foodics reports 40,000+ restaurants, Restroworks 25,000+ and TMBill 14,000+ brands, but those figures cover all their markets. Syrve is the only one here that reports a Dubai number: more than 400 restaurants.

How much does a restaurant POS cost in the UAE?

Most vendors on this list don't publish UAE prices, so you will need a quote. Ask for four numbers: the software fee per terminal or outlet, the hardware cost, the card processing rate and any integration fees. Geidea offers free setup, and Oracle offers hardware upgrades from $1.

Is Grubtech a POS?

Grubtech is an order management system that sits alongside your POS. It pulls orders from delivery apps and your POS into one dashboard, adds a kitchen display and driver dispatch, and updates menus across outlets. It integrates with Foodics, Talabat, Deliveroo, Careem and Noon.

Can I run a POS on my card machine?

Yes. Fortis turns a card machine into a full POS with table management, inventory and loyalty. Geidea provides card terminals with its own POS software and a dashboard for inventory and shifts.

Which restaurant POS works offline?

CompuCash states that it keeps working offline. Most cloud systems have some offline mode, but the details vary, so ask each vendor to show you a sale going through with the internet disconnected.
